Brismania has no passwords. Enter your email address and we send you a short code; type it in and you are playing. The first time, you also pick a player name, which is what other explorers see. On a new phone, sign in with the same address and everything is where you left it.
Location
Brismania is played by walking, so it asks to use your location while the app is open. It never asks for access in the background. Your explorer moves when you do: a fix every few metres keeps them in step with you.
No GPS, or indoors? You can type a place to start from instead. The world is there to look at, but it only really opens up once you walk.
Look up. The map is drawn from real streets, but it is not directions and it does not know about traffic, building sites or closed gates. Never play while driving or cycling, and never go somewhere you would not go without the game.
Brissies
The creatures of Brismania are called Brissies. There are 86 families across 10 elements. Your first one hatches for you when you start, with stats of its own: no two Brissies are alike, even in the same family. The others live out in the world, and different places suit different families.
The app carries the starter families with it and downloads the others the first time you meet one, which keeps the install small. That first meeting can take a moment on a slow connection.
What is on the map
- Wild Brissies appear around you as you walk. Walk close to one to battle it.
- Beacons stand on real streets. Each one watches over a small patch of the map.
- Training yards let you train a Brissie against a tougher opponent, for strength, at a risk.
- Chests and food turn up along the way. Food keeps your Brissies strong.
- Other explorers near you show up too, in a rough area rather than their exact spot, and you can challenge them to a duel.
Fair play
Every step is checked on our servers against how fast a person can really travel. If you move further than a walk explains, for example after a train ride, you can still look around and battle, but catching and collecting wait a little while until the game has caught up with you. Faking your location breaks the terms of service.
Something wrong?
The app keeps a technical log on your phone. If something goes wrong, open the diagnostics screen and send it to us: it tells us what happened far better than a description can, and your position in it is blurred to about a kilometre. Or write to support@brismania.nl.
